Welcome to Environment Plymouth
From global to local
Launched on World Environment Day 2017, Environment Plymouth is an award winning and continually growing network of diverse groups and individuals who share an interest in green or sustainable issues in Plymouth and beyond.
Building on the previous strengths of the Plymouth Environment Forum which was established in response to the 1992 Earth Summit, Environment Plymouth is a community network with over 300 members.
We are a community network. If you need help with environmental health issues please call Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Community Homes or your social housing provider.
About Us
Plymouth is an amazing city. Located in the county of Devon and just across the River Tamar from Cornwall, it is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and seascapes. From the wild areas of Dartmoor to the marine environments of Plymouth Sound, the city offers access to wide variety of environments; from urban city courtyard backyards to parks, gardens, ancient woodlands and hedgerows, riverside and beaches.
However, as a bustling city with a key naval base, it also has its share of environmental issues, including air and water pollution, threats to wildlife and tree cover, the impact of climate change and the strategic impact of land-use and the balances needed for sustainable growth and housing.
In response there are local interest groups for almost every environmental concern – some big, some small. Some long-term and some fleeting.
